About Altamonte Pass Railroad (APRR):

Altamonte Pass Railroad (APRR) is a one-of-a-kind private facility nestled in the heart of Altamonte Springs, Florida. Located just 8 miles north of downtown Orlando and conveniently situated a mile from the I-4 and Highway 436 intersection, APRR offers an 8-mile miniature railroad adventure that takes you through the Selwyns' property, including a fascinating journey through their home. Our commitment to creating a memorable experience is evident in the various attractions like air-powered loading facilities, themed tunnels, and an upcoming pint-sized railroad town for everyone to enjoy.

The APRR features:

. . . a mainline loop (featuring 30-foot radius) approximately 700 foot long with 800 additional feet of double tracks, passing sidings, storage tracks, and a reversing WYE which takes the train (and its passengers) right through a main house along the route.
Most of the original planned special highlights of the railroad have been realized; our new air powered loading/unloading facilities makes moving equipment an ‘effortless’ joy, the steel girder bridge (spanning an under construction fish pond) is in place and passable; a 50’ wooden themed mine tunnel with remote opening portals is open and passable; a 150’ natural potocarpus tunnel is in place, and is being grown and shaped daily; and a 12 foot powered turntable is nearing completion. Engineering and manufacture continues on “smart” operating grade crossings, block signals, remote turnout control with position indicators; and a computerized control station to monitor and visually report train positioning and makeup; along with block and turnout conditions. A pint-sized railroad town is also expected to be under construction by late 2025; complete with various structures, streets, and such for the children (big and small) to play in, on, and around. And finally, a three bay engine house and four track maintenance shop are to be built stubbed out from the turntable.
Our equipment roaster consists of two diesel electric engines; an electric ‘galloping goose’; a ‘police’ speeder; a 2-6-0 Steamer; eight rider cars; eight specialty cars; three MOW Utility cars; and two cabooses.
Visitors are welcome ONLY WITH ADVANCE NOTICE and PERMISSION, but must call first to schedule their visit around our availability and to gain yard access . . . and while visiting, we further invite you to enjoy our extensive indoor/outdoor ‘G’ gauge railroad.
